so this is the resolve...questions of the heart ^_^

well a lot of things has been said before we broke off, a lot of people we're hurt...so we totally didnt close our doors, she wants to keep the communication open..but i dont know how i feel about this..because, yeah she told me she still loves me and she said "i love you naman eh...anu ka ba...nagiisa ka lng sa puso ko....kung hindi ikaw mapapangasawa ko mas gugustuhin ko pang tumandang dalaga..." or so she says...i dont know anymore,. i dont know what to expect, i dont know what to do...i wanted to court her again but i think its too early.. she told me this morning that shes enjoying her freedom...so i dunno..shes in the choir, the theatre guild, and the representative for nursing, so she wont have time for me anymore. this is why we we're fighting to begin with.. the time...the thing is given i can give her my complete and total trust, given that i can be cool with everything..i mean not being the priority...if this is the type of relationship she wants now, then i cant give her my all, cause right now, i wouldnt think she deserves to be my everything...but i do know that i love her so much..so im confused.. if ever we become together again then ill prolly not love her the way that i used to love her...and i dont want that..i want her to love me the way i love her..is it not fair for me to ask that?...owell, i guess i gotta learn. i dont know what to do..but i assure you guys..the girl that can love me the way i want to be loved, i will really give my everything to her. and prolly marry her hahahah..i really wanted ella to be the one though..and its not too late, but everyday shes enjoying without me, the more i loose hope...

"Survivor Philippines"

Eighteen castaways will be competing against each other for the P3 million grand prize in Survivor Philippines. GMA-7's reality show will be shown in the country this September.

Eighteen castaways join "Survivor Philippines"

Will it be the laundry woman with the strong hands or the male model with the chiseled abs?

Could it be the driver who wants to achieve a better life or the nanny who dreams of showbiz stardom?

The first Pinoy Sole Survivor could be any of them or the 14 other hopefuls all vying for the P3 million grand prize in GMA-7's reality show.

After thousands of Filipinos flocked to local auditions, GMA-7 decided to give more people a chance to be part of this once in a lifetime event. Instead of 16 contenders, Survivor Philippines picked 18 castaways from different corners of the country and from all walks of life.

Among them is a female farmer who seeks greener pastures, a call center agent who wants to quit the graveyard shift and a basketball player who wants to take a shot to win the jackpot.

Isolated in an island, deprived of basic necessities and challenged to chart unfamiliar territory, 18 strangers will fight it out armed only with instincts, strength and wit.

Expect fierce competition, willful deceit and sly strategies as each challenger tries to be the last one standing. Who will outwit, outlast and outplay all castaways to become the first Pinoy Sole Survivor?

i miss her...

i cant hide the fact that its over..my road to happiness is not a smooth road anymore but a crooked one full of potholes...i couldnt imagine at first life without her..then again i still cant..its hard letting go of someone you love, someone you gave your all to...but then again i really dont want to..honestly speaking i dont know what happend, what went wrong, all i know is push came to shove then IT happend...i was mad, selfish, and abnormal at that time. i guess when a person is mad they tend to do a lot of stupid things that they would regret in the later run...i cant take her off my mind..i keep thinking if shes happy or if shes even thinking of me...i dont know anymore...i just dont...but i love her so much..i miss her so much..i cant stop my feelings..but i know i have to give her space, a little time to think, a little time to realize how much she needs me, how much she misses me (haha wishful thinking) shes the only girl i completely took my ego out of the door and begged her to comeback...this isnt me..then iagain, i dont know who i am already...all i know is that im inlove with her..but you know what..come to think of it, the last few days of our relationship wasnt a happy one, i always complained cause she wasnt giving me enough time..not texting too much..not as into the relationship as i was..she did a couple of stupiud things, and so did i..but i dont know...maybe it wasnt meant to be..but i want to make our relationship work..i really do..but can i self sacrifice all the time?..maybe the days that ill disappear would make her realize that she really does love me..and that she'll love me enough to be the girl of my dreams? (Again wishfull thinking).. well we'll see what'll happen..ill give her something this friday and ill see whats up...but i huess im kinda ready already for the inevitable..i hope not though..

change of plans in ethe E-heads concert

Okay, it has been announced that Eraserheads will be doing a one-night only concert on August 30 this year, to be sponsored by the tobacco mogul Philip Morris. It was also announced that the tickets are F-R-E-E.

Then came the anti-tobacco advocates and DOH, armed with the legalities stated under Republic Act 9211, also known as Tobacco Regulation Act of 2003, for prohibiting tobacco companies to sponsor any sports, cultural, and artistic events of individual or team athletes, artists and performers.

Then rumors stated that the concert will no longer push thru as Philip Morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. This has brought a lot of negative feedbacks especially those who have painstakingly registered at the Marlboro site for the chance to win passes for the Eraserheads concert.

But as I am ready to give up my plans to attend the event, I came across some blogs that announced that the concert will STILL push thru but will no longer be free. The rumor was based from an email supposedly sent by Eraserheads drummer, Raimund Marasigan himself, to the members of his Sandwich fans mailing list.

Subject: [subsandwich] eraserheads aug 30 08 confirmed

dear everybody

after much ado. the eraserheads concert is most definitely pushing through.

philip morris and its brands have pulled out from the concert. but another company is taking over the production. the turn over started yesterday and they have already started work on the site in the fort.

so you can check.

there are good news and bad news.

unfortunately its no longer free. all the long winded registration procedures in the red nation site is now void.

the good news is that the age limit is now 12 years old (for safety reasons)and tickets will be sold so you dont have to wait for confirmation and what not.

the official announcement and ticketing details will come out in major newspapers and on the radio on tuesday.

these are the only details i know for now so no need to email me. im just the drummer.

btw. i just got home from the last rehearsal. the band is cooking. we will see you all on the 30th.

And from what I have read, the general admission will cost you PhP 1,500. So what does these news hold for those who got the Red List Invite as pictured above? Does it mean their FREE tickets will no longer be valid?

According to the PEP site, the concert venue has been moved to the open-air venue at The Fort, Taguig to accomodate all those who were able to purchase the elusive tickets. More details will be announced today, August 26, in local radio, newspapers and other media outlets, said Marasigan.

If the concert will indeed push thru on August 30th, then that only leaves us roughly 4 days to get our hands on those damn tickets. Until the full details and official announcements have been made, we have no choice but to wait. And I think this gives us fair chance to see the Eheads reunion, better than waiting like forever for free tickets in an online site.

Philippine Flag at the Finals of America's Best Dance Crew

Photo from bakitwhy

RJ "Rockadile" Puno of Super Cr3w, winner of the Americas Best Dance Crew, wave the Philippine Flag in front of American audience. Super Cr3w and 8 other crews out of 10 has atleast one Pil-am members. RJ once promise in an interview by www.bakitwhy.com that he will wear the philippine flag onstage if they made it to the finals. But it still surprise me seeing the Philippine Flag in an American TV show that has been dominated by Filipino Dancers for two consecutive season. And I become more emotional when all the Pil-Am finalist join the stage and passed the flag around. moments like that makes me proud of being a Filipino.

I'm so happy to know that Pinoys in other country, especially young pinoys are learning their roots and culture and being proud of it. Because many Pilipino here in the Philippines are trying to imitate and practice foreign culture while denying their own culture and goes to the extent being ashamed of our own culture.

To all Phil-am dancers on ABDC, Thank you for representing filipino in the US of A.

politics explained using cows...Genuis!!

POLITICAL MOVEMENTS EXPLAINED USING COWS.

GENUIS.

FEUDALISM: You have two cows. Your lord takes some of the milk.

PURE SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and puts them in a barn with everyone else's cows. You have to take care of all of the cows. The government gives you as much milk as you need.

BUREAUCRATIC SOCIALISM: You have two cows. The government takes them and put them in a barn with everyone else's cows. They are cared for by ex-chicken farmers. You have to take care of the chickens the government took from the chicken farmers. The government gives you as much milk and eggs as the regulations say you need.

FASCISM: You have two cows. The government takes both, hires you to take care of them and sells you the milk.

PURE COMMUNISM: You have two cows. Your neighbors help you take care of them, and you all share the milk.

RUSSIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. You have to take care of them, but the government takes all the milk.

CAMBODIAN COMMUNISM: You have two cows. The government takes both of them and shoots you.

DICTATORSHIP: You have two cows. The government takes both and drafts you.

PURE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors decide who gets the milk.

REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY: You have two cows. Your neighbors pick someone to tell you who gets the milk.

BUREAUCRACY: You have two cows. At first the government regulates what you can feed them and when you can milk them. Then it pays you not to milk them. Then it takes both, shoots one, milks the other and pours the milk down the drain. Then it requires you to fill out forms accounting for the missing cows.

PURE ANARCHY: You have two cows. Either you sell the milk at a fair price or your neighbors try to take the cows and kill you.

LIBERTARIAN/ANARCHO-CAPITALISM: You have two cows. You sell one and buy a bull.

SURREALISM: You have two giraffes. The government requires you to take harmonica lessons.

A CHRISTIAN DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. You keep one and give one to your neighbor.

A SOCIALIST: You have two cows. The government takes one and gives it to your neighbor.

AN AMERICAN REPUBLICAN: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. So what?

AN AMERICAN DEMOCRAT: You have two cows. Your neighbor has none. You feel guilty for being successful. You vote people into office who tax your cows, forcing you to sell one to raise money to pay the tax. The people you voted for then take the tax money and buy a cow and give it to your neighbor. You feel righteous.

A COMMUNIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and provides you with milk.

A FASCIST: You have two cows. The government seizes both and sells you the milk. You join the underground and start a campaign of sabotage.

DEMOCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government taxes you to the point you have to sell both to support a man in a foreign country who has only one cow, which was a gift from your government.

CAPITALISM, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. You sell one, buy a bull, and build a herd of cows.

BUREAUCRACY, AMERICAN STYLE: You have two cows. The government takes them both, shoots one, milks the other, pays you for the milk, then pours the milk down the drain.

AN AMERICAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You sell one, and force the other to produce the milk of four cows. You are surprised when the cow drops dead.

A FRENCH CORPORATION: You have two cows. You go on strike because you want three cows.

A JAPANESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You redesign them so they are one-tenth the size of an ordinary cow and produce twenty times the milk. You then create clever cow cartoon images called Cowkimon and market them World-Wide.

A GERMAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You reengineer them so they live for 100 years, eat once a month, and milk themselves.

A BRITISH CORPORATION: You have two cows. They are mad. They die. Pass the shepherd's pie, please.

AN ITALIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows, but you don't know where they are. You break for lunch.

A RUSSIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You count them and learn you have five cows. You count them again and learn you have 42 cows. You count them again and learn you have 12 cows. You stop counting cows and open another bottle of vodka.

A SWISS CORPORATION: You have 5000 cows, none of which belong to you. You charge others for storing them.

A BRAZILIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You enter into a partnership with an American corporation. Soon you have 1000 cows and the American corporation declares bankruptcy.

AN INDIAN CORPORATION: You have two cows. You worship both of them.

A CHINESE CORPORATION: You have two cows. You have 300 people milking them. You claim full employment, high bovine productivity, and arrest the newsman who reported on them.

AN ISRAELI CORPORATION: There are these two Jewish cows, right? They open a milk factory, an ice cream store, and then sell the movie rights. They send their calves to Harvard to become doctors. So, who needs people?

AN ARKANSAS CORPORATION: You have two cows. That one on the left is kinda cute.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars is OUT!!!

The character of Master Yoda (in photo) is voiced over by Tom Kane in the animated film Star Wars: The Clone Wars. This Warner Bros. movie is scheduled to open in theaters all over the Philippines starting today, August 20, 2008.

"Star Wars: The Clone Wars" opens today, August 20

Warner Bros.

A tinge of Anakin Skywalker's coming dark side clearly is visible in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Yet the animated adventure mostly harks back to the fun, swashbuckling times of the original Star Wars trilogy.

Lucasfilm Animation has crafted a movie nicely tucked in to Anakin's early heroic days, before his transformation into the evil Darth Vader. Along for the ride are noble-hearted clone soldiers with the camaraderie of Marine grunts, inept android warriors as idiotic as the Three Stooges and a young protege who rivals Anakin for cockiness and affectionately calls him "Sky Guy."

Dave Filoni, director of the movie, said the idea was to return to the wisecracking tone of the original Star Wars in 1977, before the gloom of Anakin's fall. "I wanted this to have the banter. I wanted this to be funny," he shared. "Telling that dark story of Anakin Skywalker was important for George, but this was a chance to show Anakin before that. Anakin as a hero, Anakin as the good guy, Anakin more like his son, Luke Skywalker, of the original trilogy."

The Anakin in Clone Wars is a hybrid of Luke and his rascally ally, Han Solo, Filoni said. "He's cocky like Han, he can do a lot of things like Han, he's clever with machines like Han. But he's naive like Luke. The whole galaxy is a bit overwhelming," Filoni said.

The movie presents all of the key characters from Anakin's world: Jedi masters Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu and Yoda; Anakin's future wife Padme Amidala; androids R2-D2 and C-3PO; gangster Jabba the Hutt; villain Count Dooku; and Palpatine, the galaxy's evil emperor in waiting.

Characters not seen in the live-action movies include conniving assassin Asajj Ventress; Jabba's sinister uncle, a giant slug that speaks with a Truman Capote-like Southern drawl; and Captain Rex, a loyal member of Anakin's clone crew.

The main newcomer is Ahsoka Tano, a teenage girl from an exotic alien species who's assigned as Anakin's Jedi apprentice. With mischievous wit, Ahsoka breaks down Anakin's stiff facade and reluctance to take on a student, the two establishing a flippant rapport as they slice up droids with their light-sabers, scale a daunting summit on a rescue mission and play nursemaid to Jabba's kidnapped baby son.

"She definitely brings a fun side out of Anakin. I think they have such a great relationship," said Ashley Eckstein, who provides Ahsoka's voice. "Ahsoka is very eager to prove herself, and I don't think she would allow Anakin not to accept her."

The movie offers a glimpse of the inner turmoil that contributes to Anakin's turn to the dark side. Crash-landing on his home planet of Tatooine, Anakin momentarily bears a haunted look as he's asked about the desert world, where he exacted a savage revenge over the death of his mother in Attack of the Clones. "I was hoping I'd never have to lay eyes on this dustball again," says Anakin.

Opening with a variation on John Williams' familiar Star Wars theme, the movie is heavy on humor. Anakin devises an amusing low-tech way for him and Ahsoka to sneak inside a droid energy shield. Obi-Wan engages in a witty surrender negotiation with a general who speaks in a Sean Connery brogue. When a droid falls off a cliff and smashes on the ground, his superior leans over and barks: "Get back here, sergeant."

A few veteran Star Wars performers provide voices for the movie, including Samuel L. Jackson as Mace, Christopher Lee as Dooku and Anthony Daniels as C-3PO. Taking over from Hayden Christensen as the voice of Anakin is Matt Lanter, while James Arnold Taylor does Obi-Wan, who was played by Ewan McGregor in the prequel trilogy.

Anakin remains a bit rash, but he has graduated from apprenticeship to Obi-Wan to take the lead on his own missions as an equal to his former master. "With this movie and also the ongoing series, we're going to see the banter between Obi-Wan and Anakin. We're going to see them as comrades, as buddies," Lanter said. "It is reminiscent of some of the original Star Wars. It's got that comic relief in it and has kind of that old-school feeling."

Lucas initially planned just a TV show. But as he viewed the first footage, he said, "This looks great. The fans should really see this on the big screen," said Filoni, who came to Clone Wars after working on the animated series Avatar: The Last Airbender.

Filoni and his collaborators reshaped a story arc developed for the series into a stand-alone tale they could tell as a theatrical movie.

The computer animation borrows from the striking panoramas of Japanese anime, while the characters have a chiseled look and movements vaguely reminiscent of the 1960s puppet adventure series Thunderbirds.

Though animated, the world is recognizably Star Wars, from Yoda's twitching frowns to the hum of the light-sabers.

"A lot of people have said to me that have seen it—well, the few people that have seen it at this point—that they feel like they're watching Star Wars," Filoni said. "They feel like they're seeing those characters again. Even though we've done this style that's painterly, if you want to call it that, it's still Star Wars."

Opening across the Philippines today, August 20, Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be distributed worldwide in theaters by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.

Poof! Next 'Harry Potter' flick moves to summer

LOS ANGELES - "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," the sixth installment in the blockbuster film franchise about boy wizard Harry, is moving from its planned Nov. 21 US release to July 17, 2009, distributor Warner Bros. said Thursday.

The move was made to take advantage of an open weekend in Hollywood's busy summer season, said Alan Horn, Warner Bros. president and chief operating officer. The film had been on schedule, and the change was not due to any production snags, he said.

"The picture is completely, absolutely, 100 percent on schedule, on time. There were no delays," Horn told The Associated Press. "I've seen the movie. It is fabulous. We would have been perfectly able to have it out in November."

The switch will mean a two-year lag between the film adaptations of books five and six in J.K. Rowling's fantasy series. But it will shorten fans' wait between "Half-Blood Prince" and the final two installments, which are being shot simultaneously next year.

Based on book seven, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the last two movies are due out in close order, in November 2010 and summer 2011. Horn said the later release of "Half-Blood Prince" will not affect the schedule for the final two movies.

Horn said the studio has had success with past summer "Harry Potter" releases, including the fifth movie, which was released in 2007 and became the second-highest grossing in the franchise.

The recent Writers Guild of America strike also had affected Hollywood's lineup in next summer, leaving a key date open for Warner to slot in "Half-Blood Prince," Horn said.

The July 17 release will be over the same weekend in the United States that Warner debuted this year's blockbuster "The Dark Knight," which had a record-breaking opening weekend and is on its way to $500 million domestically and the No. 2 spot on the all-time box-office charts behind "Titanic."

"Half-Blood Prince" finds Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) returning to his wizard classes with a clandestine assignment to root out dark secrets about the early years of his archenemy, the dark Lord Voldemort.

The film is directed by David Yates, who made the fifth movie and also is shooting the final two.

Last February, another big Hollywood film, Paramount's "Star Trek," was bumped from a December release to May 8, 2009. Paramount executives said that move also was intended to take advantage of an open weekend in the summer lineup.

Our Government doesn't tolerate drugs

The government will not extend aid to 52 Filipinos currently jailed in China for allegedly transporting illegal drugs to the country, Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) chairman Vicente "Tito" Sotto III said.

Sotto said he received specific order from President Arroyo to investigate the cases of the Filipinos and exhaust all means to prevent similar incidents abroad, but not to help the arrested Filipinos, who were mostly women, two of whom were even pregnant.

The President made it clear that as far as Filipinos ar

rested in drug trafficking cases abroad are concerned, they can't expect help from the government. And I can tell that she is firm on this decision," Sotto told reporters during a press conference in Quezon City.

The DDB chairman explained that the administration of President Arroyo is really strict when it comes to the fight ag

ainst dangerous drugs.

"You see the government can help those overseas Filipinos who commit personal crimes.. but in drug cases, we kno

w that these are syndicates so we really can't tolerate them," Sotto stressed.

A Good decision from our President

Is it?

Is it love?
I’m feeling for you
Because I can’t think of anything
But you

Is it a dream?
To stay beside you
Because I don’t want to be awaken one day
Seeing you go away

Is it right?
To continue to fight
Even if the people around us
Doesn’t want us to,

Is it worth it?
To give up everything for the one you love
For life is incomplete
When your not here with me

And is it enough?
To just say I’m sorry,
For I doubted your love
And hoping someday you’ll be back

Silence

In the silence
You can hear my heart beating
Louder than the rain hitting the lens
But slowly dripping

Is it just me?
Or can you feel it too
I’m hoping this love was meant to be
Because to forget you, is hard to do.

In the silence
I can hear you’re heart beating
And it seems your body is filled with tense
How I wish, you and I are kissing

Did I hear it right?

The 90-minute premiere episode of the CGI animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars will have a limited release in U.S. cinemas starting August 15th.

Not only will this be the first 3-D animated movie for the highly-successful saga, but this will also be the first Star Wars movie not released through Twentieth Century Fox. Fox released all six Star Wars movies, plus the original microseries The Clone Wars on home video.

But Warner Bros. and Turner Broadcasting will release Star Wars: The Clone Wars this time. The principle reason is that Turner's and W.B.'s subsidiary, The Cartoon Network, managed to snag the rights to the series from creator George Lucas.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars on The Cartoon Network

The new series will premiere this fall on The Cartoon Network, later airing on TNT.

"I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell," said George Lucas in the press release for Star Wars: The Clone Wars. "I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward."

"Nothing like this has ever been produced for television," said Stuart Snyder, President/COO Turner Animation,Young Adults & Kids Media. "For 30 years, Star Wars has shown that it appeals to a huge breadth of fans. Star Wars: The Clone Wars on Cartoon Network will be appointment television for everyone in the family. We're thrilled to be working with Lucasfilm again and very excited to be playing a role in bringing this remarkable adventure to viewers."

ever wonder if eat bulaga will ceased on television??

Do you ever wonder if eat bulaga would be removed or ban for television. or rather joey de leon would not just be suspended but be removed from any other shows??

it would mean life is lacking, somehow the lives of the filipino people and even those who critisize him will be left no meaning.

ever wonder why those who sucks at making themselves notice boast of something that they lack.

i'm reffering to the show wowowee, they sure gives money greater than our very own eat bulaga but do they have "humor"?; Other than being lousy and those dirty jokes?

Ever noticed that those who opposed somehow tends to copy those on the top and pretend that they idolize them,...just giving some runts

so ever wonder why are they desperate to win over veterans and those who conquered the heats of many filipinos through legal and sensible humor than being a copy cat?

Chicosci bagged the award for MTV asia's favorite artist for RP

The eight-year-old five-member band Chicosci won over five other bands for the 2008 MTV Favorite Artist of the Philippines honors at the superstar-studded ceremony which will be held here tonight at the Arena of Stars in Genting Highlands. It’s the first time for Malaysia to host the awards which was first established in 2002 in Singapore.

The band, a contract artist of MCA-Universal Music, was officially formed in 2000 when Miguel Chavez (vocalist), Mong Alvarez (guitar), Carlos Calderon (bass) and former member Sonny Baquisal (guitar) decided to join (and win) an inter-school Battle of the Bands. Chicosci has since graduated from an after-school activity to full-time profession. The band now has Joel Salvador (drums) as member, with newest member Ariel Lumanlan on guitars.

It’s one of the 10 regional awards at stake, with six international awards.

Internet voting for the MTV Awards nominees lasted for two months. The MTV people didn’t reveal how many votes Chicosci got.

The Pussycat Dolls will perform their hit single, When I Grow Up (from their sophomore album Doll Domination, also released in the Philippines by MCA-Universal Music), for the first time in Asia. Response to the single has been overwhelming in the US since it was released.

At a press conference Thursday held at the Kuala Lumpur Hilton (where the Pussycat Dolls are billeted), Nicole Scherzinger was asked what she wanted to be when she “grows up” (in reference to the song) and, without batting an eyelash and flashing a wide smile, she said, “I’ve always wanted to be like Lea Salonga,” adding that she’s proud of her Filipino heritage. Nicole’s father is Filipino, surnamed Valiente, and her mother is Russian. She was born in Hawaii where she was raised and studied. “I’ve never wanted to be anything but a singer and a dancer,” she added. “In fact, I auditioned for Miss Saigon when I was 17, almost seven years ago, when I was in New York. Did I pass? I wouldn’t know because I forgot all about it and concentrated on my studies.”

Asked if she knows any other Filipino artists, Nicole mentioned Jasmine Trias, who placed third in the Americal Idol Season 3, also born and raised in Hawaii by Filipino parents.

Nicole then recalled that she and the four other Dolls — Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Melody Thornton and Kimberly Wyatt — once visited Manila to promote their first eponymous album.

“It was a very emotional visit,” recalled Nicole who’s a deadringer for Hollywood actress Suzanne Pleshette, “because it was my very first visit to my homeland.”

At the presscon, the five girls were given batik malongs as gifts from MTV. Asked if she knew how to wear it, Nicole stood from her stool onstage and gladly demonstrated how to wrap the malong around her gorgeous figure.

“This is how it is done in the Philippines,” she smiled. “Doesn’t it look nice?”

The Chicosci guys are here to receive the award.

It must be recalled that the band’s first two albums, Revenge of the Giant Robot (2001) and Method of Breathing (2002), were released under the major label EMI Philippines. The single Sink or Swim from their debut effort, established the band as one of the forerunners of the new generation of rock. The song garnered several accolades, including Best Directed Video at the 2001 MTV Pilipinas Awards. Their success continued with their critically-acclaimed sophomore album, Method of Breathing, which allowed further recognition for the band after the song Paris dominated the Philippines’ only rock station’s charts for over a year. Paris held the No. 1 spot for more than 52 weeks on NU 107’s countdown, which ultimately gave Chicosci the NU 107’s Song of the Year award in 2002.

In 2004, the band released the album Icarus under Viva Records and it won for them MTV’s Lokal Artist of the Month in May 2004. The singles Shallow Graves and An Argument both landed spots in NU 107’s weekly and year-end countdowns.

In 2006, however, Chicosci finally found mainstream success with the release of its new self-titled album under MCA-Universal Music, its present home. Originally released independently, the album has been repackaged with 15 songs, plus a music video.

“It’s Chicosci’s best work so far,” said Katherine Choy, frontline executive of MCA-Universal Music.

Chicosci is also slowly making waves across the region, spreading their music in various countries in Southeast Asia. Aside from sharing the stage with American big-name acts such as Fall Out Boy, Good Charlotte and Thursday, Chicosci has toured with other groups from Asia and Australia. The band was part of the Crossborders event which was here and in Singapore in Dec. 2006, and of the recently-concluded Invasia Tour which covered countries such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore.

With guitarist Ariel Lumanlan, the newest addition to the group, Chicosci is currently busy writing new songs for their upcoming fifth album to be released within the year also by MCA-Universal Music.
